Susie has a ridiculously long list of things she should be doing to make her the perfect yummy mummy, however she also has an even longer list of her crazy ideas and mad cap neuroses. Apr 01, Martina rated it it was amazing. Susie is very honest, as you might expect from a diary and although she had her moments where I just wanted to give her a shake, overall I did really like her. Joe, her husband is demanding with good intentions and hilarious feedback. View all 3 comments. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.
Jun 20, Adele Symonds rated it did not like it Shelves: I picked this book up during a recent bout of illness, not expecting to enjoy it much, and was pleasantly surprised. Brilliant account of a stay at home housewife and mum. Let’s connect Contact Details Facebook Twitter. I bet many if not all mums will identify with Susie, the main character, and her amazingly chaotic life! Susie is a mother and housewife who has left work to bring up her two children.
Actually made me LOL in places. Not to mention m When Susie’s maiden aunt gives her a housekeeping journal, she expects Susie to use it for jotting down nutritious recipes and planning household budgets. On top of that, there’s the small matter of the Lone Father at the children’s play group who is clearly smitten and Susie’s passing interest in Posh’n’Becks, Wayne and Colleen, Brad’n’Jen’n’Angelina She is a very funny character and one that I think you either love or loathe.
I do think the 4 year old girl in it is not a true reflection of how girls that age act she was more like a ten year old and no 4 year old girl would come out with things like I want to look sexy and I’m never going to get a boyfriend now.
Because of this, if ever you went to a carboot sale, you would always find people urgently trying to shift this utter pile of crap with an expression of moderate disappointment upon their face.
Susie is a stay at home mom and this chronicles her adventures. Mar 03, Jenni rated it really liked it. I had real issues with the main character in this book. She has a love hate relationship with her body and her wardrobe is waging war against her.
Lists with This Book. Dec 15, Nienke rated it really liked it. An amusing read but nothing to get over excited about! Anyway all in all a decent book but nothing spectacular She was shallow and self indulgent, and negative.

Hard to put down which was good. Trying to understand the main character and her completely illogical way of thinking made me kind of ashamed to be female. Secret Diary of a Demented Housewife, as you might expect, chronicles a year in the life of Susie, who is married to Joe and has two kids called Jack casalingz Katie and is told in the form of diary entries.
I think many people who have a life filled with children, husbands and the every day responsibilities will certainly enjoy this book. For comfort she turns to coffee and desserts.

Funny ish but not nearly as funny as it might have been. A pleasant and enjoyable read. Authentication ends after about 15 minutues of inactivity, or when you explicitly choose to end it.
I found the narrator to be whingy and whiney, negative to the extreme, judgmental of other people, insecure, rude, shallow and unloving. Funny and silly and easy to read.
This is a re-read and its fun even after so many years.
